High Peak plunged into Tier 3 lockdown: This is when it will start

With the national lockdown due to be eased, the new set of restrictions will come into play from 12.01am on Tuesday, December 2.
Last week the Government announced its ‘winter plan’, which it said would involve a tiered system like the one before the second lockdown, however confirmed that the restrictions would be tighter this time.

Hide AdToday Matt Hancock said that the High Peak and whole of Derbyshire would be placed into Tier 3: very high alert.
In Tier 3, you must not meet socially indoors or in most outdoor places with anybody you do not live with, or who is not in your support bubble, this includes in any private garden or at most outdoor venues.
You also must not socialise in a group of more than 6 in some other outdoor public spaces, including parks, beaches, countryside accessible to the public, a public garden, grounds of a heritage site or castle, or a sports facility.
Hospitality settings, such as bars, pubs, cafes and restaurants are closed apart from to serve takeaway and collections. All accommodation and indoor entertainment venues must close.

Hide AdAhead of the Health Secretary’s announcement, Derbyshire County Council’s Conservative leader urged the Government to place the area in Tier 2, rather than Tier 3.
The letter, signed by leaders of all the county’s district and borough councils and representing more than 800,000 people, warned of the “critical” impact very high controls could have on firms.
County council leader Barry Lewis asked the Prime Minister to “put the hospitality and tourism businesses in our county, which have suffered so very much since this global pandemic arriving on our shores, at the core of your thinking alongside the public health considerations”

Hide AdThe tiers will be reviewed for the first time on December 16, meaning there is potential for areas to change tier before Christmas.
This will be done according to how successful the areas have been in slowing the spread of Covid-19.

Hide AdOver Christmas, the Government announced that up to three households – which also includes bubbles – can meet between December 23 and 27.
The households or bubbles can meet in private homes, outdoor public places or places of worship.
Any meeting with people outside of the three-household ‘Christmas bubble’ must be done in accordance with the new tier restrictions.
